Dress For Fall in 2024 for Both men and women
I love summer, but by the end of August (okay, maybe the middle of August), I’m ready to say goodbye to summer and welcome fall. The weather doesn’t always cooperate with my schedule though so I’ve been thinking of ways to slowly incorporate fall style right now. In this post, I’m showing you how to dress for fall when it’s still hot outside.
Here in Kansas City, the weather generally stays warm through the middle of September then starts slowly chilling, first in the mornings and evenings then during the day as well. Dressing for fall in hot weather can be done a few ways, and I’ve thought of five tips that I’m sharing below.
Best way To Dress For Fall in 2024 when is Hot outside for Men and Women
- Wear Light Weight Pieces in Earthy Tones
When I want to dress for fall, I pull out all my clothes in earthy tones, like rust, rich browns and tans, deep greens, and burgundy. I also tend to start wearing a lot more black as well. This midi dress (which looks much more burnt orange in person) is a great example of a light weight piece that feels like fall, but is appropriate for right now. I also own this top in green, and this sweater polo is a beautiful fall color.
- Pair Removable Layers With A Tee Or Tank
As the mornings get cooler, opt for more layers that can be easily removed when the day warms up and then thrown back on when in ice cold air conditioning (what is up with that?!) I love a nice cardigan, blazer, or denim jacket for this purpose.
- Incorporate Knits Like A Sweater Vest Or Tank
To get the feel of fall without heavy sweaters, try pairing a sweater tank with linen shorts or breezy light weight pants. There will be time for full on chunky knits later, but for now a trendy sweater vest or a sweater tank will work just fine.
- Wear A Sweater Over Your Shoulders
For some coastal grandmother vibes, throw a sweater on over your shoulders. It’s a smart way to add a third piece without adding much bulk. I especially love this look with a striped sweater.
